Jedi Master Mace Windu

Mace Windu is a senior member of the Jedi Council and was especially wary of Anakin Skywalker as he senses great danger with the boy. He is a Form VII instructor and is one of the best living lightsaber fighters in the Jedi Order (this was before his demise in "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith"). The dangerous seventh form of lightsaber combat is called Vaapad and cuts perilously close to the Sith focus on physical combat ability. He led the Jedi expedition to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi and killed Jango Fett (pictures of Medicom's Jango Fett here) in battle.

Mace Windu is portrayed by none other than Samuel L Jackson and is the only character to wield a purple lightsaber. Jackson, a huge Star Wars fan, especially wanted his own color so that his character could be easily spotted and recognizable in the final battle scene of "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones" amid all of the other Jedi.

In the movie "Unbreakable (2000)", Samuel L Jackson played Elijah Price and also wears purple to David Dunn's (Bruce Willis - 1/6 scale pictures of him here) green attire.

This 1/6 scale 12-inch Mace Windu figure was released by Hasbro in June 2000 to coincide with the release of the movie "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace". As Mace Windu did not engage in any battle then, the colored tube that represented the lighted saber was not purple but blue. The later version of Mace Windu from "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones" released in 2002 came with the correct light saber hilt and purple colored tube.

Besides playing Mace Windu, Samuel L Jackson also portrayed Nick Fury in Iron Man (pictures of Iron Man here) and has signed a 9 picture deal with Marvel which would see him appear in Thor, Iron Man II, The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers as well as any other sequels they would produce. Earlier reports of him being left out had since been reversed (see my post here)

Other Jedi covered so far: Ki-Adi-MundiAnakin Skywalker, Qui-Gon Jinn, Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and old Ben Kenobi
