Medicom Kubrick Real Steel mini figures PREVIEW

Real Steel is a 2011 American science-fiction action film starring Hugh Jackman and directed by Shawn Levy. Set in the near future, where robot boxing is a top sport, a struggling promoter (that would be Jackman) feels he's found a champion in a discarded robot. During his hopeful rise to the top, he discovers he has an 11-year-old son who wants to get to know his father. Hugh Jackman stars as Charlie Kenton and Dakota Goyo plays his son Max Kenton.

Medicom will be releasing these KUBRICK Atom & Max 2-packs

There will also be the KUBRICK Noisy Boy Charlie 2-pack as well

The movie kind of reminds me of the Rock'em Sock'em Robots, a popular two-player action toy and game, designed by Marvin Glass and Associates and was first manufactured by Marx toy company in 1964. It features two dueling robot boxers mechanically manipulated by the players, and the game is won when one player knocks the head off of the opposed. The game was available in the United Kingdom during the 1970s, where it was sold under the name Raving Bonkers.

These Rock'em Sock'em Robots appeared on the big screen in "Toy Story 2". The two fighting robots, red and blue, were on Al's desk in his office inside Al's Toy Barn. When Buzz Lightyear (Buzz 2 now) and the toys come to the office, Slinky asks them if they had seen Woody (describing as "a cowboy doll with a bad arm"). The Blue first politely responds that he hasn't, leaving the Red and the Blue to argue over who was being asked. They then fight each other with the Blue defeating the Red. They are voiced by John Lasseter (Blue) and Lee Unkrich (Red). They can also be seen in The Incredibles.
