Gecco "Metal Gear Rising Revengence" 1/6th Scale RAIDEN PVC Statue with stand is 32 cm

RAIDEN, the enormously popular central character from the mega hit action game "Metal Gear Rising Revengence" is recreated as a PVC statue. The heroic pose, grabbing a "SELF REPAIR UNIT" extracted ("ZANDATSU KILL") from the enemy cyborg soldier in his left hand, and his HF blade in the right, highlights the best part of Akao's technique. The statue features a well-balanced & beautiful muscular body which also illustrates his outstanding skill.

The highly detailed mechanical designs of the weapons and overlapping armor are digitally sculpted by Akao's brother. This is their first collaboration. The eye glows red with a mounted LED in the head. The closed visor for battle mode is available with optional parts. The "HF MURASAMA BLADE" left by his worthy rival, Jetstream Sam, is interchangeable in his right hand, and the scabbard in his left hand. As for the cyborg soldier lying at his feet, shows not only the abject cut surface of the body, but also "the expression of the dying arm" trying to say something.

This masterpiece thoroughly supervised by Yoji Shinkawa (the art director of Kojima Production) is the most "pictorial" and "beautiful" RAIDEN ever. Gecco "Metal Gear Rising Revengence" 1/6 Scale RAIDEN PVC Statue with stand included is approximately 32cm in height.

Very Cool 1/6 scale Viper suit sets are for Dr Green / Viper as seen in 2013 Wolverine film

The Wolverine is a 2013 superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine. The film, distributed by 20th Century Fox, is the sixth installment in the X-Men film series. Hugh Jackman reprises his role from previous films as the title character, with James Mangold directing a screenplay written by Scott Frank and Mark Bomback, based on the 1982 limited series Wolverine by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. In the film which follows the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, Logan travels to Japan, where he engages an old acquaintance in a struggle that has lasting consequences. Stripped of his immortality, Wolverine must battle deadly samurai while struggling with guilt.

Svetlana Khodchenkova stars as Dr. Green / Viper (formerly known as Madame Hydra), a mutant, who has an immunity to toxins. About her character, Khodchenkova said "Viper doesn't really have many people that she cares about, most of them she just uses for her own purpose." Mangold said, "as her name would imply, she's kind of snake-like," and that Viper views Logan "like a great hunter might view hunting a lion in his quarry."

Next up: Original Effect OE Killer Instinct series 1/6th scale Sunny 12-inch female action figure

Original Effect seems to be on a roll in releasing female figures. Not too long ago, they released pictures of their upcoming OE Killer Instinct series 1/6 scale Sophia female figure and she looks almost similar to this Sunny figure except Sophia is dressed in a schoolgirl's uniform whereas Sunny will be dressed in a Swimsuit. You can check out pictures of Sophia posted on my toy blog HERE. And what's with girls in school uniforms? Does it make them sexier? There's going to be a Phicen Limited Artistic Interpretation 1:6 scale The Last Female Student Collector Figure (posted HERE) and how about Hot Toys Sucker Punch 1/6th scale Babydoll (Emily Browning) 12-inch Collectible Figure (reviewed HERE and HERE)

I'm actually more interested with this Killer Instinct Sunny figure's release than the earlier Sophia figure. I think it's the head sculpt and outfit. They are more unconventional than what was on Sophia and Sophia looked rather ordinary.

Original Effect OE Killer Instinct series 1/6th scale Sunny 12-inch female action figure will come with the following (Contents list): Head, 7 cm Teenie body (it says in the bio that Sunny is 16), Swimsuit, Silk stockings, Shoe covers, Leather shoes, Anorak, Tactical helmet, Respirator, Hands with gloves x 5 pairs (Optional sword-holding hand x 1 pair, Optional gun-holding hand x 1 Pair, Optional clenching hand x 1 pair, Optional modeling hand x 1 pair, Optional normal hand x 1 pair), Arm band, Tactical backpack, waist belt and leg bind, Middle Bag x 2, Small Bag x 2, Kneepad x 2, Pistol, Sword, Grenade x 4

continued from previous post...

In the 2012 American ensemble action film "The Expendables 2", Jean Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme) carries a Steyr AUG A3 with an Aimpoint Micro T-1 red dot sight as his primary firearm. JCVD plays the bad guy (antagonist) and as the leader of a criminal organization, arms dealer and mercenary group "The Sangs", he has to face off with Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team of mercenaries (do-gooders called "The Expendables").

Here's Play Toy P003 1/6th scale The Villain 12-inch figure OR Jean-Claude Van Damme (JCVD) as Jean Vilain in The Expendables 2 with his black leather coat and Steyr AUG A3 rifle. The 1/6 scale Steyr AUG A3 rifle does not have the red dot sight added. In its place is a sniper's scope and carrying handle.

The Steyr AUG is an Austrian bullpup 5.56mm assault rifle, designed in the 1960s by Steyr Mannlicher GmbH & Co KG (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch). The AUG (Armee-Universal-Gewehr—"universal army rifle") was adopted by the Austrian Army as the StG 77 (Sturmgewehr 77) in 1978, where it replaced the 7.62mm StG 58 automatic rifle (a licence-built FN FAL). In production since 1978, it is the standard small arm of the Austrian Bundesheer and various national police units. The rifle and its variants have also been adopted by the armed forces of Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malaysia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Pakistan, and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

The film is set during the last month of the European Theater of war during World War II in April 1945. Review II: Play Toy P003 1/6 The Villain 12-inch figure - Jean-Claude Van Damme as Jean Vilain

continued from previous post...

This is Play Toy P003 1/6th scale The Villain 12-inch figure OR Jean-Claude Van Damme JCVD as Jean Vilain in The Expendables 2 with his black leather coat and pistol. I think this Play Toy "Villain" figure looks more like Jean-Claude Van Damme with the 1/6 scale shades / sunglasses on. You can check out how the 1/6 scale head sculpt looks like without shades HERE, in my first part review of this 12-inch Jean Vilain figure.

Jean-Claude Van Damme portrays Jean Vilain, leader of an Albanian criminal group known as the Sang in the film The Expendables 2. He goes up against Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team of merry men, and almost takes them out. In the end, there is the duel to the death between Ross and Vilain. I don't have to tell you who won since Expendables 3 has already been released.

This is the first 1/6th scale figure of Jean-Claude Van Damme I have and since I am not willing to pay the ridiculous price Enterbay is asking for their JCVD figure, I am actually quite pleased with how this figure turned out. And with Dam Toys' announcement that they might be producing and releasing 12-inch figures of Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme from the 1992 science fiction action film "Universal Soldier", it looks like I don't have to wait very long for another JCVD figure to add to the ever growing collection of action figures that I already have.

Preview Very Hot 1/6 US Navy SEAL HALO UDT Jumper x 2 & US Army Special Forces HALO

High-altitude military parachuting or military free fall (MFF) is a method of delivering personnel, equipment, and supplies from a transport aircraft at a high altitude via free-fall parachute insertion. Two techniques are used: HALO (high altitude - low opening) and HAHO (high altitude - high opening).

In the HALO technique, the parachutist opens his parachute at a low altitude after free-falling for a period of time, while in the HAHO technique, the parachutist opens his parachute at a high altitude just a few seconds after jumping from the aircraft. HALO techniques date back to 1960 when the U.S. Air Force was conducting experiments that followed earlier work by Colonel John Stapp in the late 1940s through early 1950s on survivability factors for high-flying pilots needing to eject at high altitudes. In recent years, the HALO technique has been practiced by civilians as a form of skydiving. HALO is used for delivering equipment, supplies, or personnel, while HAHO is generally used only for personnel.

In typical HALO / HAHO insertions, the troops are dispatched from altitudes between 15,000 feet (4,600 m) and 35,000 feet (11,000 m).

VERY HOT will be releasing three versions of 1/6 scale HALO military figures: a U.S. ARMY Special Forces - HALO (shown above and in the pictures following), a U.S. Navy SEAL HALO UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) Jumper Camouflage Dry Suit version and a U.S. Navy SEAL HALO UDT Jumper Wet Suit version, all with and without figure options available.

Review 1: Play Toy P003 1/6 The Villain 12-inch figure - Jean-Claude Van Damme as Jean Vilain

In the 2012 American ensemble action film "The Expendables 2", Jean-Claude Van Damme portrays Jean Vilain, the leader of an opposing team of mercenaries known as the Sangs. In the beginning of the film, the Expendables are ambushed by international criminal and arms dealer Jean Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme), his right-hand man Hector (Scott Adkins) and his mercenary group (the Sangs), and are forced to watch Vilain kill their comrade, sniper Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth), the team's newest recruit and Ross' protégé. Leader Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team of merry men vow to seek vengeance on Vilain.

Van Damme was intentionally distant from the cast and crew during filming to stay in character. Commenting on the role, Stallone said: "We’ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one." Van Damme was offered a role in The Expendables, but ultimately turned it down.

This is the recently released Play Toy P003 1/6th scale The Villain 12-inch figure OR Jean-Claude Van Damme JCVD as Jean Vilain in The Expendables 2 which comes with 1/6 scale head sculpt, 12-inch figure body, 4 swappable hands, black leather coat, long sleeve black T-shirt, belt, tactical belt, boots, sunglasses, AUG assault rifle, pistol x 2, pistol magazines x 2, shoulder holster, metal hunting knife, hunting knife sheath, figure stand.

Review III Sideshow Exclusive DC Comics 1/6th scale Blue & Gray Batman 12" collectible figure

You can order this from Sideshow Collectibles

continued from previous post...

This is the Sideshow Collectibles DC Comics 1/6th scale Blue & Gray Batman 12-inch figure Exclusive version with the extra Brawl Damage Portrait. The great thing about Sideshow Exclusives is that they don't cost more than the regular version; you only have to order it first as they are limited in numbers. This was the first figure I ever ordered directly from Sideshow Collectibles. All my previous Sideshow Collectibles figures have been bought locally though the retail stores and they were not exclusive figures. I wanted this alternate head sculpt of battle damaged Batman because it's unique as it isn't very often you see Batman in this situation.

Who would be able to inflict this kind of damage to Batman? A few villains come to mind and Bane is right up there on the list. After all, Bane was the supervillain who broke Batman in the comic books (Batman #497, July 1993) and he did it again most recently in the 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises with Tom Hardy playing the role of Bane.

But interestingly enough, a superhero could inflict this kind of damage on Batman and he would be one of Batman's greatest ally. In "The Dark Knight Returns", a 1986 four-issue comic book miniseries starring Batman, written by Frank Miller, illustrated by Miller and Klaus Janson, 55-year-old Bruce Wayne returns from retirement to fight crime and faces opposition from the Gotham City police force and the United States government. The President orders Superman to remove Batman and the two superheroes duke it out in Crime Valley. From the recent teasers for the Superman film sequel, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", it seems to suggest that this confrontation will take place on the big screen in 2016.

World War Z is a 2013 American disaster zombie film directed by Marc Forster. The screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, and Damon Lindelof is from a screen story by Carnahan and J. Michael Straczynski, based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Max Brooks. Brother Production Presents their 1:6 scale Custom Hand Made World War Zombie Fighter Figure (Limited Edition: 200 box) which will come with Realistic head sculpt,  1:6 scale Base muscle body (12-inch), Blue shirt, Shemagh scarf, Shoulder bag, G3 combat pants / dirty effect, Combat boots / dirty effect, Satellite phone, Soft drink can, Hand gun, Axe, Machine gun with metal ammo belt, Necklace, Watch, Wedding ring x 2, Hand string (blue), Hand string (brown), Normal hands x 1pair, Holding hands x 1 pair, Zombie head. Optional Purchase: Special Zombie display base with detachable zombie head

This is not the first 1/6 scale Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane (World War Z) 12-inch figure to be released. Toy company Easy & Simple recently previewed their 1/6th scale Zombie Survivor 12-inch figure which is also based on Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane from World War Z. You can check out the preview pictures posted on my toy blog HERE. I'll post a review when I get the E&S figure. Looks like I won't be getting this as I feel the head sculpt is a bit off. Plus I already pre-ordered the E&S version which IMHO is much better.

Sideshow Collectibles DC Comics 1/6th scale Blue & Gray Batman 12" action figure Review II

You can order this from Sideshow Collectibles

continued from previous post...

Having taken a closer look at the box packaging and its contents (especially the grapple hook gun) plus a closer look at the Sideshow Collectibles DC Comics Blue & Gray Batman 1/6th scale head sculpt in my part 1 review, I wanted to show the alternate facial expression that is included with this set and how easy it is to switch expressions. I also get to show Batman with his Bat-shurikens and batarang.

We have kind of established that this particular 12-inch Batman figure resembles the HUSH Batman look of the early 2000s with the blue and gray color scheme for the costume based on the "Batman Infographic: Every Significant Bat-Suit Ever Created" posted HERE as well as comparing the particular Bat insignia emblazoned on his chest with all the Batman iconography over 75 years (posted earlier HERE). For me, it's a welcome change from all the 1/6 scale movie versions of Batman we have been seeing who are clad predominantly in black. Hot Toys has released more than two versions of the Christian Bale Batman from the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy as well as the 1989 Tim Burton directed Batman film with Michael Keaton as Batman, notwithstanding another 12-inch Michael Keaton Batman figure in the works (from the follow-up film "Batman Returns"). I don't have that many 1/6 scale DC Comics Batman figure in my collection and this particular figure certainly caught my eye and deserves my attention.

Sideshow Collectibles DC Comics 1/6th scale Blue & Gray Batman 12-inch figure comes with a new 12-inch fully articulated Batman Body that is quite muscular with bulging biceps, triceps and shoulders and anywhere else muscles can appear which makes Batman look BIG and intimidating so much so you wouldn't want to mess with him if he stands before you. That is a good thing that Sideshow Collectibles did because the DC Comics version of Batman does not have armor or a muscle suit to make him look good (like in the movies). He is just drawn that way. Plus this new body doesn't fall over at a whim, unlike the older bodies which Sideshow used for their Star Wars Clone Troopers.

Xensation Toys 1/6 scale Double Face 12-inch figure looks like Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face

Batman Forever is a 1995 American superhero film directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Tim Burton, based on the DC Comics character Batman. It is the third installment of the initial Batman film series, with Val Kilmer replacing Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne / Batman. The film stars Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face, Jim Carrey as the Riddler, Nicole Kidman as Dr. Chase Meridian and Chris O'Donnell as Dick Grayson. The plot focuses on Batman trying to stop Two-Face and the Riddler in their villainous scheme to extract confidential information from all the minds in Gotham City and use it to learn Batman's identity and bring the city under their control. Bruce Wayne gains allegiance from a love interest — psychiatrist Dr. Chase Meridian and a young, orphaned circus acrobat named Dick Grayson, who becomes his sidekick Robin.

Xensation Toys' new figure set, Double Face is obviously based on the character, Two Face (as portrayed by Tommy Lee Jones), from the 1995 film, Batman Forever. Xensation Toys 1/6 scale Double Face 12-inch figure will come with Realistic head sculpts (two distinct faces - one 'plain', the other 'double face'), Exclusive fully articulated male body, Special split concept dress suit comprising two-colored shirt (Yellow shirt with Leopard pattern & White shirt), Special three-colored suit (Purple zebra pattern & black & pattern lining), Special two-color Tie (Wine red & Leopard pattern), 6 changeable hands, A pair of dress shoes, Two revolvers (Black & Silver), and a 'lucky' coin.

Tommy Lee Jones portrays Harvey Dent / Two-Face: Formerly the good district attorney of Gotham City, half of Harvey's face is scarred with acid during the conviction of a crime boss. Driven insane, he becomes the criminal Harvey Two-Face. He flips a coin to determine if he kills (tails) or not (heads). Director Joel Schumacher had problems filming with Kilmer, whom he described as "childish and impossible", reporting that he fought with various crewmen, and refused to speak to Schumacher during two weeks after the director told him to stop behaving in a rude way. Schumacher also mentioned Tommy Lee Jones as a source of trouble: "Jim Carrey was a gentleman, and Tommy Lee was threatened by him. I'm tired of defending overpaid, overprivileged actors. I pray I don't work with them again." (source: wiki)

Review 1: Sideshow Collectibles DC Comics 1/6th scale Blue & Gray Batman 12" action figure

You can order this from Sideshow Collectibles

"I am the night - I am Batman!"

Shine the signal, and the protector of Gotham City will emerge from the shadows to fight crime and bring justice. This is the Sideshow Collectibles Exclusive DC Sixth Scale collection Blue & Gray Batman 12-inch action figure which I got recently (see the toy blog post of my September 2014 haul HERE). This is the first figure I got directly from the company because the Sideshow Exclusive version which is only available if you order from them comes with an additional head sculpt, the Brawl Damage Portrait which I wanted. Plus it doesn't cost extra either. It's the same price as the regular version.

This Batman is supposed to be the DC Comics version and looks nothing like the movie / film versions who are dressed pre-dominantly in black suits except for the 1966 Adam West Batman. Adam West Batman actually looks much happier than this grim looking Batman collectable figure LOL. I was looking at the 75 years of Batman iconography (posted earlier HERE) and the Batman logo on his chest looks closest to the 2003 Gotham Knights Batman. The blue and gray color scheme for the costume also seems to fit the look of 2000s HUSH Batman (Batman Infographic: Every Significant Bat-Suit Ever Created posted HERE)

Though the Batsuit has been drawn many different ways by different artists, and the stories themselves have described Batman as modifying the details of his costume from time to time, it is most often depicted as consisting of: matching blue (or black) scalloped cape, bat-like cowl, gloves with a series of scalloped, fin-like protuberances, boots, and outerwear briefs; a yellow utility belt; and, a skintight gray body suit (with a stylized, black bat insignia emblazoned on the chest -- either without, or within, a bright-yellow ellipse).

Kotobukiya Marvel Comics She-Hulk Bishoujo Statue needs some work on her facial expression

She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters) is a fictional character, a Marvel Comics superheroine. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist John Buscema, she first appeared in Savage She-Hulk #1 (February 1980). A cousin to Dr. Bruce Banner, Walters once received an emergency blood transfusion from him when she was wounded, which led to her acquiring a milder version of his Hulk condition. As such, Walters becomes a large powerful green-hued version of herself while still largely retaining her personality.

She-Hulk has been a member of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Heroes for Hire, the Defenders, Fantastic Force, and S.H.I.E.L.D. A highly skilled lawyer, she has served as legal counsel to various superheroes on numerous occasions.

I don't think we'll see a big screen version of She-Hulk anytime soon and although Kotobukiya has been doing quite an awesome job with their Bishoujo interpretations of Marvel female characters, I think they got it wrong this time. The face just seems off and it isn't a good representation of She-Hulk at all. Let's hope they do something about the head sculpt before releasing it. Otherwise, I don't think there'll be many takers for this product. The body is quite well sculpted though. Just needs improvements on the face.

KGB HOBBY KGB-003 1/6 scale Russian VDV Scout military uniform set for 12-inch figures

continued from previous post...

The Russian invasion continues... the 1/6 scale kind, that is. Posting pictures of military figures does not mean I condone war of any kind. This product is for military collectors and meant for historic education purposes only, and it is not intended to glorify nor exploit the horrors and atrocities of war.

It's been a while since I've tied the camouflage strips / strings onto a ghillie suit. The process is time consuming as you have to tie the strings to the netting one by one (see my review post HERE of the BBI Elite Force 1/6 scale USMC - United States Marine Corps - Sniper "Snake" 12-inch figure). The ThreeA BBICN Exclusive World War Robot WWR 1/6 scale Bot Sniper Punter 12-inch Figure also came with a camouflage ghillie suit but that was already pre-tied (see the post on my toy blog HERE). It looks like I might go into that again with the release of this KGB HOBBY KGB-003 1/6 scale Russian VDV Scout military uniform set for 12-inch figures.

This KGB HOBBY KGB-003 1/6 scale Russian VDV Scout military uniform set (with a limited production run of 500 units) will come with KLM Jacket, KLM Trousers, RD-54 Airborne Assault Pack (Flora), Scout Ghillie suit, Camouflage strips / strings for Ghillie suit, Flora Camo Stripes for Ghillie suit, ‘Berci’ Leather Boots, Field Cap in Sun-Bunny Camouflage, VDV Blue Beret, Armed Forces Oval Cockade in Golden / Red, Metal VDV Emblem x 2, Scarf (OD), Black Gloves, ANA Belt (OD), Rubber Tourniquet, Telnyashka Style Long Sleeve “Muscle” T-Shirt, “Muscle” Long Underpants, AKS-74U Assault Rifle (New Material) with Kobra Red Dot Optical, Magazines for AKS-74U x 8, Khaki Sling for AKS-74U. Note: 1/6 scale head sculpt and 12-inch figure body is NOT included.

This is KGB Hobby KGB-002 1/6 scale Russian MVD Special Force outfit set for 12-inch figures

This year 2014 will be remembered as the year of the Russians for 12-inch military figure collectors because of the sudden influx of 1/6 scale Russian figures being released. After a long drought of zero Russian figures, 1/6 scale toy manufacturers have decided to flood the market with a whole slew of Russian soldiers of every type and kind imaginable and those starved of Russian figures suddenly find themselves inundated with so many choices and options to choose from. It's like you order the very first Russian figure you see because after so long, it's a 'must have' item. Then as the weeks pass, more and more Russian figures keep popping up and you are now in a conundrum as to which figure to get.

Well, here are two more Russians (in this post and the NEXT) to be added to the list of choices. This is the KGB Hobby KGB-002 1/6 scale Russian MVD Special Force outfit set for 12-inch figures and it will be a limited production run of 500 units.

KGB Hobby KGB-002 1/6 scale Russian MVD Special Force outfit set for 12-inch figures will come with Berezhka Combat Jacket, Berezhka Combat Trousers, M32 ‘Tarzan’ Class-A Tactical Vest, Kazak-6 Body Armor, Byteks ‘Omon’ Leather Combat Boots, Khaki Field Cap, Armed Forces Oval Cockade in Silver, Scarf (OD), Multi-Purpose Pouch, ANA Belt (OD), Rubber Tourniquet, Long Sleeve “Muscle” T-Shirt, “Muscle” Long Underpants, Black Gloves, AKS-74U Assault Rifle (New Material) with Kobra Red Dot Optical and PBS-5 Silencer, Magazines for AKS-74U x 8, Khaki Sling for AKS-74U. Note: 1/6 scale head sculpt and 12-inch figure body is NOT included.

Preview: ACI Toys ACI-23 1/6th scale Medieval Knight Hospitaller Crusader 12-inch action figure

The Knights Hospitaller, also known as the Hospitallers, Order of Hospitallers, Knights of Saint John and Order of Saint John, were among the most famous of the Western Christian military orders during the Middle Ages. The Hospitallers probably arose as a group of individuals associated with an Amalfitan hospital in the Muristan district of Jerusalem, which was dedicated to St John the Baptist and founded around 1023 by Blessed Gerard Thom to provide care for poor, sick or injured pilgrims to the Holy Land. After the Latin Christian conquest of Jerusalem in 1099 during the First Crusade, the organisation became a religious and military order under its own Papal charter, and it was charged with the care and defence of the Holy Land. Following the conquest of the Holy Land by Islamic forces, the Order operated from Rhodes, over which it was sovereign, and later from Malta where it administered a vassal state under the Spanish viceroy of Sicily.

This upcoming release of the ACI Toys ACI-23 1/6 scale Medieval Knight Hospitaller Crusader 12-inch figure certainly looks very promising. He has the Cross of the Knights Hospitaller and the Flag of the Order of Malta and does look very authentic in design and details. I recently posted an entry titled "Military kit through the ages" HERE which showed photos of everything a British soldier carried in the field from the 11th century (the Battle of Hastings was in 1066) right up to present day Helmand Province, 2014 but the Hospitallers were not featured.

Ignite did release a Knights Hospitaller 12-inch figure sometime back but debate has been ongoing as to whether it was an accurate depiction. Check out the review and toy blog post HERE

Review of Kaustic Plastik 1/6 scale XXL Project Set 1 - The Fantasy Warrior head and outfit set

I've known Ted Menten for many years now and he has become a great friend from afar all thanks to the internet - it certainly has made the world a much smaller place. We exchange banter regularly, almost on a daily basis. Ted has lots of interesting stories to share and I just enjoy reading about his early days experience with toys and such. He's such a humble guy you wouldn't believe that he worked with Don Levine (father of G.I. Joe) back in the day and he helped develop the 12-inch action figure for boys (you can't sell dolls to boys because only girls play with dolls). Without G.I Joe, there wouldn't be a market for 12-inch figures today, let alone all the collectibles related to 1/6 scale figures.

Ted wrote me to wish me a Happy Belated Birthday (see text below) which is the reason for this post:
Alex,
What do you get for the guy who seems to have it all? LOL
Well, I thought about it and decided to give you a gift of free time -- a few extra moments with your family. Here is my take on the just released Kaustik Plastik Fantasy Warrior set that I got from BBTS (Big Bad Toy Store). So, if you want to take off some time here is your chance.
Happy Birthday
Ted

So this review of the Kaustic Plastik KP01 1/6 scale XXL Project Set 1 - The Fantasy Warrior set is possible all thanks to Ted Menten, a guest reviewer in this instance :)

Hot Toys MMS158 Sucker Punch 1/6 Jamie Chung as Amber Collectible Figure Review II

continued from previous post...

Here's Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS158 Sucker Punch 1/6th scale Amber Collectible Figure wearing her garrison cap and holding her Glock 19 pistol. Having reviewed the box packaging and contents in my part 1 review on my toy blog earlier HERE, Amber just wouldn't look complete without her headset or cap so posted below are more pictures of Hot Toys Sucker Punch Amber figure, the second (and last) figure to be released out of a possible five-member girl group. Hot Toys did it again, just as they did with "Platoon", "Watchmen", "Aliens" etc where they got the movie license and teased us with some figures, made us pre-order and then stopped producing the rest of the figures from the same movie after releasing one or two which means these will always be an incomplete set. Good thing I am not a completist freak who must own every figure of a set or complete a set which in this case is incomplete (two out of five ain't good). So I was able to take these off a collector who was willing to let them go for the price of one figure (two for one are good numbers in my book) - see my post of my September 2014 haul HERE

People collect for different reasons (check out my recent toy blog post HERE on "Why do adults collect toys?") and some of them swear off dolls (like Barbie). I used to be one of those (wanting to remain a manly man who only collects action figures) but these days, the lines are blurred. Hot Toys Sucker Punch Babydoll and Amber are FEMALE action figures although they are dressed very much like dolls (one of the reasons I think Zack Snyder made the film - to be provocative!). Guys generally don't like to be told they collect dolls because that sounds downright sissy but female action figures are okay although there are some who do collect Barbie dolls.

The women in the film underwent extensive training with former Navy SEALs in both weapons handling as well as room clearing techniques. This made the sequences realistic, convincing and believable as the all-girl group tackled German Zombie soldiers in trench warfare, stormed an Orc-infested castle to retrieve two fire-producing crystals from inside a baby dragon, and boarded a train and battled robotic guards to disarm a bomb. In the fantasy sequences, the mix of weaponry in the film spans several decades from the time period of the reality depicted in the film.

It's unfortunate that Hot Toys did not complete this Sucker Punch series and we can bitch about it till no end but on the other hand, I choose to look at what Hot Toys did with these two and the amazing sculpting they accomplished. These may have been released in 2012 but they still look good by today's standards. Check out my review and pictures of  Hot Toys Sucker Punch Babydoll figfure HERE and HERE.

Preview Hot Toys 1/6 RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

You can pre-order this from Sideshow Collectibles

The prototype of the new battle damaged version Robocop Collectible Figure captured many fans’ attention when it was shown in toy fairs earlier this year as it is the first ever official 1/6th scale collectible figure which features a remarkable likeness of Peter Weller! The cyborg officer has been very popular with fans, but we can’t forget about the man who was brutally “murdered” to become RoboCop. We are delighted to present a special collectible figures set which includes the highly-anticipated 1/6th scale collectible figures of the battle damaged version of RoboCop and Alex Murphy in police uniform!

The movie-accurate RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure is specially crafted based on the image of Peter Weller as the battle damaged RoboCop. It features a new sculpted head sculpt with mechanical details, specially painted battle damaged armor, working thigh gun holster, detailed weapons and accessories.

The movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Peter Weller as Alex Murphy in his police uniform in the film featuring a newly developed head sculpt, highly detailed costume, weapons, and accessories.

This is just awesome! After so long, we finally have a RoboCop that exposes Peter Weller's face as well as Peter Weller / Alex Murphy the police officer of Detroit, Michigan before he is brutally murdered by a gang of criminals and subsequently revived by the malevolent mega-corporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) as a superhuman cyborg law enforcer known as "RoboCop".

PLAY TOY P006 1/6 Female Intelligence Agent looks like a 12-inch Baroness of the Cobra kind

"Evil never looked so good!"

In the 2009 military science fiction action film "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra", Sienna Miller portrays The Baroness (Ana Lewis / Anastasia DeCobray), the sister of Cobra Commander and a spy. Miller prepared with four months of weight training, boxing sessions and learned to fire live ammunition, gaining five pounds of muscle. She sprained her wrist after slipping on a rubber bullet while filming a fight scene with Rachel Nichols who plays Scarlett (Shana M. O'Hara).

PLAY TOY upcoming release P006 1/6 Female Intelligence Agent 12-inch action figure which looks to be based on Sienna Miller as The Baroness will come with the following features: 1.6 scale female head sculpt, 12-inch female figure body, black leather outfit comprising bodysuit, leather pants plus boots, belt, wrist gauntlets x 2, holsters x 2, sunglasses, shooting glasses, Pulse Blasters x 2 + an extra hand

This isn't the first 12-inch Sienna Miller as The Baroness femme fatale figure. Hasbro released a 1/6 scale Baroness figure back in 2009 (reviewed on my toy blog HERE and HERE when the movie came out). Sideshow Collectibles has also released a 1/6 scale COBRA The Baroness 12-inch femme fatale figure (see the preview pictures HERE). This figure is interesting and is NOT branded as a Baroness figure but a Female Intelligence Agent.

Review 1: Hot Toys MMS158 Sucker Punch 1/6th scale Jamie Chung as Amber Collectible Figure

continued from earlier post...

Hot Toys Sucker Punch 1/6th scale Jamie Chung as Amber Collectible Figure was released around June 2012 but I was able to get hold of it as a pair only recently – see my post HERE of my September 2014 haul. I was quite pleased to be able to get the pair at a very good price (two figures for the price of one is just too good to resist!)

Sucker Punch is a 2011 stylish fantasy action film set in the 1950s. It is set around the story of a young girl named BabyDoll who is sent to live in a mental institution by her wicked step-father. during this time however she imagines and enters an alternate reality in which she can plan her escape along with her four friends Blondie, Amber, Sweet Pea and Rocket.

Jamie Jilynn Chung is a second-generation Korean American and an actress who starred in her first major role as well as the series lead in the ABC Family miniseries Samurai Girl which launched in September 2008. She plays Amber in Sucker Punch, part of the all girl group that tries to escape from the mental institution they are trapped in.

Military kit through the ages: from the Battle of Hastings in 1066 to Helmand Province in 2014

From the crude weaponry and armour of the Battle of Hastings, to the high-tech kit of modern conflict, a new photographic survey explores the personal equipment carried by the common British soldier through the past 1,000 years.

Tom Atkinson’s photos of everything a British soldier carried in the field from the 11th century (the Battle of Hastings was in 1066) right up to today. Not only are they curiously beautiful to look at, Atkinson posses the remarkable talent of being able to lay things out on the floor in an extremely pleasing way, but the objects capture how technology has changed our lives throughout the centuries. (all photos credit to Tom Atkinson. What an amazing job!)

"Soldiers ’ Inventories" the name of the project, starts with the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and chronicles infantry equipment in 12 battles throughout history, from the battle of Waterloo to the war in Afghanistan. The British empire was built on military campaigns and the evolution of its warfare was vital to its success in establishing a territory that once covered almost a quarter of the planet, the largest empire in history.

Picture shown above is of Huscarl, Battle of Hastings, 1066. Next up is Mounted Knight, Siege of Jerusalem, 1244. Scroll down to see the pictures. Click on them for bigger and better views.

70 years of Batman Evolution: 1939 Batman up to 2012 The Dark Knight - $2.6 billion made

Here's another Batman Evolution chart I came across and this one covers the iconic superhero through the years and the money Batman films have made, grossing over $2.6 billion worldwide.

Batman first appeared in the pages of Detective Comics #27 which was sold for 10 cents. By the 1940s, Batman was a big player in comics and Alfred Pennyworth, The Batsignal, The Batmobile and the Batcave were introduced, as were villains like Dr Hugo Strange and The Joker.

In the 1950s, Batman gradually becomes more science fiction oriented as he fought aliens from outer space. This era showed a more 'sunnier' Batman during the postwar years to reflect the golden age of the 50s. Accusations of Batman being gay rose at this time, and rumored Batman and Robin as romantic lovers LOL.

Mezco One:12 scale Frank Miller Dark Knight Batman 6.75-inch tall action figure is AWESOME!

Mezco has released details and new images for its Dark Knight Returns Batman 1/12th scale action figure.

Announced over the summer as part of the One:12 Collective line, the Batman figure — based on the landmark 1986 miniseries by Frank Miller, Klaus Janson and Lynn Varley — stands 6.75 inches tall and boasts more than 30 points of articulation. It comes with four pairs of interchangeable hands, an interchangeable boot with holster, pistol, removable utility belt, grappling hook, alternate head, Bat-symbol display base, articulated figure stand and “detachable cape-posing stand accessory.”

This is what I love about this hobby, when toy companies dare to try new things and not just be stuck with the old stuff. One of the reasons I went into collecting 1/6 scale figures was because of the fabric outfits / costumes which concealed the joints and made the figure look more realistic. Smaller scaled action figures tend to be made from molded plastic with cuts made into the plastic body parts to allow articulation which looses the seamless look of the figure. This figure, which ships in January 2015, will set you back about US$65.

Check out MC TOYS 1/6 scale ERYX Soldier outfit set with something different - Kryptek camo

Not sure what ERYX stand for but this is a very interesting camouflage option. Apparently in 2012 when the U.S. Army was considering a wardrobe change, five camouflage design teams were chosen to move onto the next stage of the Army's selection and testing process of Phase IV Camouflage Improvement Effort. The designers had to prove that their patterns of desert, woodland, and transitional camouflage stand up to scientific analysis and field trials.

The Army was also interested in a pattern for equipment and gear to cross over all three environment color schemes. This means soldiers won't have to switch their equipment to match what they're wearing in different environments. One of the elite teams vying for a possible Army contract was a small, yet formidable company named Kryptek, founded by two combat veterans who served together in Iraq. They were competing against respected firms ADS (teamed with Hyperstealth Biotechnology), Brookwood Companies, Crye Precision, and a Government team from the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center. (source: www.businessinsider.com)

This will be MC TOYS upcoming release: M-045 1/6 scale ERYX Soldier outfit and gear set which will comprise: Boonie hat, Combat shirt, Combat pants, Belt, Zephyr GTX Mid TF hiking boots, Sunglasses, D3 chest rig+zip pouch, Plate carrier, Waist gun holster, HK45 Pistol, Pistol magazine x 2, SEAL PUP M37K knife, CBK Concealed backup knife, Machete, Machete sheath, 1000ml wide mouth bottle, Backpack, Patches x 3, Magazine dump drop pouch, D ring, Collars, Safety lanyard, HK416 assault rifle with 552 Holographic weapon sight, CTR Stock, Angled Fore-Grip, Gun light, PEQ15, rifle sling. My October 2014 / Birthday Haul: Spider-Man, Venom, Nova and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

So what did I get for my birthday? Would you believe it if I told you I didn't get anything 1/6th scale on my birthday? Not ONE 12-inch figure. I couldn't believe it myself haha The thing is, unlike toy collecting back in the day where you actually go out and hunt for 12-inch figures you want, today's toy collecting environment is a pre-order and wait situation whereby you get to preview stuff you like and then you place an order (pre-order) the item and wait for its release. Certainly teaches you patience as you cannot hurry the product but must wait for the call from the retailer that the stuff you ordered has arrived. I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of a very highly anticipated Heavy Armoured Special Cop any day now (check out my post HERE if you want to know what or who I'm talking about).

It so happens that there were no new 12-inch figure being released on my birthday week which means there's no 1/6 scale haul for my birthday toy blog post. What I did get are still some very nice action figures, including some impulse buys which are rare for me these days, given the internet and how you know what's coming out and what to expect.

So for my birthday, I got for myself the Disney Infinity Marvel Superheroes Spider-Man, Venom and Nova figures plus the first pair of the Kaiyodo Revoltech Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TMNT action figures (Leonardo and Raphael) as well as a Captain America shield power bank.

Sideshow Collectibles is proud to present Barbara Gordon as the spirited masked crime-fighter, Batgirl who is joining their celebrated DC Comics collection!
